Is CBD Oil Good For Your Skin?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is seemingly taking over the skin-care atmosphere. The compound, found in homegrown Cannabis and hemp is noted to have anti-inflammatory features that could be healthy for the skin, so it’s no wonder that CBD oil and skincare appears to be as synergistically related as it is for pain and anxiety relief.
For decades, it's been universally blended in many skincare products and cosmetics. In fact, higher values of CBD have become an even more popular compound these days estimated to reach $26 Billion in US sales alone by 2024. CBD oil is not just trendy, it can give benefits to almost any type of skin at any age for everyday skin conditions.
More research is being made to actually understand how CBD oil works on the skin. Although initial results are intriguing, much more study needs to be done. The CBD oil has no side effects on its own, although it's likely some person may be receptive to the compound. When seeking any new skincare product for the first time, be mindful of any signs of irritation: redness, itching, burning, or rash... even though that may be the exact reason you are using it for relief in the first place.
How CBD Works
Specialists say that it comes down to the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The ECS is a network of receptor sites located throughout the body. This system is responsible for sustaining the body’s homeostasis (balance) which in turn helps regulate everything from sleep to pain, appetite, immune function, and stress.
Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency (CEDS) is a condition where the body's endocannabinoid system produces inadequate amounts in order to maintain homeostasis (balance).
Studies show that the bodies of all mammals have CB1 and CB2 receptor cells located throughout the body. The body naturally produces endocannabinoids, and CBD is a related phytocannabinoid from Cannabis. Both clearly affect the ECS in comparable ways. It’s usually defined as a lock and key system, where the cannabinoid is the unlocking key receptor, causing a chain of reactions throughout the body. There's evidence to suggest that this can lead to reduced inflammation, calm skin and more.
Nano CBD For Skin
Some studies have noted that topical CBD can also help lessen oil generation in addition to reducing inflammation in the skin, which are two principal actors in the generation of acne. Adding that the anti-inflammatory effects of CBD can help calm skin and diminish redness too.
Additionally, it also has antioxidant and regenerative properties to help counteract damage from the sun, pollution, and antiaging. Basically, it seems everyone’s skin can stand to benefit from using CBD oil applied to their skin.
Nano particles are so small that they can be absorbed into the bloodstream more efficiently than regular-sized bits of the same substance. Nano sized CBD is over 1 million times smaller that regular CBD.
As nano particles of CBD oil can be mixed with water and our body is composed of 95 percent water, the absorption rate and speed of delivery of a water-compatible nano CBD molecule is always going to be higher and more effective than a traditional hemp oil infusion.
This means Nano CBD has more bio availability than regular CBD oil. Imagine how fast the skin absorbs up a serum, whereas normal facial oils tend to rest on top of the skin for a while. The active components need to reach the more profound layers of skin where the tissue is living to cause a physiological adjustment.
CBD As Alternative Acne Solution Is Interesting
What’s clear from many studies is that CBD oil acts as an anti-inflammatory. So, how does that explain and relate to skincare?
One approach is its ability to help calm skin, especially skin that’s acne-prone. Because acne is an inflammatory ailment, research indicates CBD’s calming qualities can further reduce breakouts and diminish redness.
Surprisingly, recent findings also note that CBD has the potential to limit excessive sebum generation, as well as help balance other triggers of acne.
As mentioned above, CBD oil contains elements that have anti-inflammatory qualities, and the current study suggests it may further relieve skin inflammation. Yet, There's also research that needs to be done to fully explain how CBD works on the skin.
CBD Face Serum Antioxidant For Anti-aging And Wrinkles
It turns out CBD oil also has antioxidant qualities that provide the research showing it can help reduce the visible signs of antiaging and wrinkles.
By neutralizing free-radical damage, CBD anti-aging creams may be capable to ease visibly diminish issues like wrinkles, skin dullness, and ruddy skin tone on hands, arms, legs, chest, neck... your face.
CBD oil is huge in antioxidant components: fatty acids like gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), and vitamins A, C, and E. Antioxidant skincare products may give the skin some shield against early aging.
Moisturizing Sensitive Skin with CBD
Another benefit of CBD oils in lotions is that it has been observed to have vital soothing qualities. It's important skin-calming and skin-normalizing effects can help lessen concerns related to skin sensitivity, including redness.
This is the most prominent and most well-verified benefit that CBD oil and skincare can deliver. The oil is emollient and gives the skin feeling soft and supple.
Many Cannabis Animus members use it to control pre-actinic keratosis (small,pre-skin cancer lesions). Apparently, they claim amazing healing benefits and apply it liberally to sun-exposed areas of their skin.
Potential Antibacterial Properties
Research also suggest that CBD oil has antibacterial properties. What impact CBD has on the skin, if any, is still being looked at. This is a fascinating botanical subject that has vast evidence and support from plant anatomists and biochemists.
CBD oil and other cannabinoids are being examined as potential remedies for a vast array of skin ailments like acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and skin cancer.
Side Notes
On top of all the evolving legal regulations, the various types of cannabis-derived products that are getting their way into the beauty and skincare industry add an extra coat of confusion for users.
In other words, it is a completely complex space packed with as many questions as there are product offerings. CBD users need to take the time to not only research the products they’re using and the brand they’re acquiring them from but to also educate themselves on how CBD works and what it can actually do for the skin and body.
Despite the awareness, study, and even the legalization of CBD, there is still plenty of effort to be done to advance the industry ahead. Still today, CBD is technically categorized as a Schedule 1 drug, considering it’s a Cannabis byproduct.
As a result, CBD start-ups are marked “high risk” by the U.S. Department of Justice regardless of the fact that it is on every major, national chain store's shelves. Hmmm...
Users should note that the regulations and information circling around CBD are still progressing quickly. As such, the data contained in this post should not be interpreted as therapeutic or lawful advice. Regularly consult with well-established, published CBD authorities if you are not convinced of its benefits.
And there's always physicians with whom to consult. More of them are beginning to absorb almost 20 years of worldwide clinical studies on Cannabis including well-documented results from millions of people around the world.
