What is CBD Pet Hemp Oil?

CBD Pet hemp oil is extracted from certified Non-GMO organic hemp grown in Colorado, USA and tested to be free of herbicides and pesticides.  It is chosen for its consistently excellent quality and high CBD yield containing all of the most important and healthful organic ingredients such as additional cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and nutrients.  Each daily serving contains 3.3 mg of cannabidiol (CBD).

Each batch of CBD Pet is 3rd party lab tested to ensure consistency and that no harmful pathogens or chemicals are present.  It is given microbiological screening, terpene analysis, and residual solvent testing.

CBD Pet Hemp Oil follows strict manufacturing guidelines as well as rigorous quality control protocols which are necessary to meet the highest standards for our pets.

CBD for Pets

Preferred CBD Extraction Process

CBD Pet is purportedly produced in-house by its parent company Nutra Pure which also makes CBD oil for human use called CBD Pure (same thing as CBD Pet).  It undergoes the exact same supercritical CO2 Extraction Process as does the human product – just not necessary in higher doses due to the lower weight and body mass of our pets.  By the same token, a 70 lb. dog will need at least half as much as a full-grown man or more.

Another benefit of the CO2 extraction process is that it leaves virtually no residual solvent or unwanted plant particulates.

Low temperatures are leveraged in this process resulting in an extremely high-quality, full-spectrum, cannabinoid-rich oil.

Hemp oil is also purified for more commercial uses in paints, cosmetics, and thousands of other non-ingestible products where solvents such as butane or hexane are used to extract the organic oils in hemp.

CBD Pet Hemp Oil using CO2 extraction

In addition to the extracted CBD oil, CBD Pet hemp oil is paired with organic hemp seed oil that is cold-pressed to retain its flavor and nutrient value.  This is a really intelligent way to create a premium, full-spectrum CBD oil and is utilized in their human products as well.

How CBD Pet Works

CBD Pet works the same way for your pet as it does for ourselves. All mammals have endocannabinoid systems (ECS) too. They have the same type network of CBD receptors that crave CBD which in turn helps restore emotional balance and physical homeostasis to your pet… just like us. Please refer to my post on CBD and Pets for more details.

Our ECS system is actually named after the plant that led to its discovery – Cannabis. Natural substances are created by our bodies that interact with all mammal’s ECS in order to maintain a balance or physiological “homeostasis”.

As our pets age, they are introduced to unhealthy air, water, harmful chemicals and unbalanced, processed foods no matter how hard we try. Over time, our pet’s internal physiology becomes less efficient and more vulnerable to disease and pain.

CBD and Nervous System

By supplementing our pet’s diets with CBD Pet, we help encourage their bodies and systems to naturally build more receptors and improve their ECS, immune system, cardio-pulmonary, and nervous systems.

What is Entourage Effect?

aka: “Whole Plant Medicine”

As a consequence of the research on Cannabis, it has been observed that a very beneficial, synergistic effect is made available to your pet’s health and well-being when all of the hemp plant’s compounds are included in a Hemp oil or CBD oil.

“The Entourage Effect” describes this beneficial synthesis of natural, “whole plant” health essentials derived from CBD-rich hemp oil and maintains its organic nutrient profile.

These organic compounds have been found to be more effective at times than more ‘processed’ varieties of CBD products.  These varieties often utilize a more purified CBD “isolate” (over 99% crystalline CBD) which is then added back to a hemp oil and/or base oil such as coconut oil, hemp seed oil, MCT, VG, or PG to name the most common.

“Full-Spectrum” Organic Hemp

Cannabinoids: CBD, CBN, CBA, THC, THCA,

Terpenes: Myrcene, Humulene, Pinene, Linalool, Caryophyllene, Lemonine, Borneol, Carene, Terpineol, Eucalyptol

• Flavonoids: Canaflavins, Apigenin, Silymarin, Luteolin, Quercetin, Kaempferol, Orientin, Vitexin

The wonderdrously unique flavors and aromas found in all of the various Cannabis sativa and indica strains originate from these terpenes and flavonoids listed above.  All these nutrients work in a synergistic fashion and support whole plant therapies.

For example, the terpene Pinene actually counteracts compromised cognition and memory caused by THC. Myrcene improves absorption through the blood-brain barrier which improves the bio-availability of nutrients to the cell level.  Combinations of Pinene, Caryophyllene and Mycene help reduce anxiety.

CBD and Pet Health

As you have hopefully learned from my posts like Cannabis and Endocannabinoid System, the therapeutic and healing effects of CBD hemp oil are fundamentally tied to our own, internal, endocannabinoid system and how it helps ‘regulate’ a myriad of healthy body functions for both ourselves and our pets.

Two types of these endocannabinoid receptors have been identified and are import for you to know about your pets’. CB1 Receptors are located predominantly in the mammalian brain, glands, organs, and nervous system.

CB2 receptors are found mainly in the immune system…. A primary role of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is to control inflammation and regulate the immune system (as well as other vital systems).

What is best for me

Some of you are already receiving your own benefits from adding CBD in your diets, but for those of you who haven’t yet, it’s important to know that our own endocannabinoid system and these ‘CBD receptor sites’ work the same in our pets.

CBD reacts naturally and eagerly when ingested by all mammals, however neither we nor the animals get as much CBD as we used to.  Unlike synthetic and pharmaceutical drugs, CBD contributes to balancing (homeostasis) your pet’s physical and mental processes, and has no adverse side effects.

Natural Relief for Your Pet

Pet owners commonly seek CBD and Hemp oil to sooth their pet’s nerves, and even relieve acute and chronic pain from aging.  But it goes much further than that for pets suffering from the physical pain of arthritis, seizures, neurological diseases, cancer as well as psychological trauma anxiety, mood and memory.

Including CBD Pet in your pet’s daily regimen can help heal digestive disorders, stimulate appetite, and improve healing.  See the difference in your pet’s behavior.  I encourage you to discover how closely we are related to our pets with regard to the myriad health benefits of CBD.

What Dose Should I Give My Pet?

The recommended dose is one/half dropper for every 10 pounds of your pet’s weight (approximately 3 mg CBD).  For best results, the oil can be delivered directly to the mouth.  Most dogs I’ve worked with lap it right up. Ever notice your pet eating grass?  I have a friend who’s cat prefers that it be squeezed onto her paw, and she licks it all off – loves it.

It can be added to pet food or treats, and can even be rubbed into the skin to heal hot spots and skin irritations.  It will speed healing when topical applications present themselves.

I recommend administering twice daily for best results, and should be a part of your pet’s daily diet at least once a day as a maintenance dose.  CBD is completely used by mammals in 6 to 8 hours and disappears from the body.

If your pet is under 6 pounds, start with one/half dropper twice per day and increase if needed.  It’s completely non-toxic.

CBD for Dogs

As a general rule, suggested starting dose is 2 – 5mg per 10 lbs. of body weight.  Start at the low ranges and you’ll notice that changes usually occur within 20 – 30 minutes depending on their condition.  And remember, since CBD is completely non-toxic, these dosage recommendations are merely to avoid waste.  There’s no reason to give your pet more than can be utilized.

Summary

Ultimately, you’ll have to experience these different products and technologies for yourself, but I hope you have found the content here helpful when it comes to better understanding why CBD is so important for our pets too.

I’ve personally tested almost 100 different CBD products to date, and find CBD Living Pet capsules and CBD Living Cat tincture oil to be the most effective pet CBD product for our members, including my family's friend's pets!  So convenient to use – just add to their food.  They will show you their feelings within the week.
